Ancient Mediterranean World: Research and Teaching

Teaching Opportunities

Ancient history graduates may apply for Teaching Assistantships in the Ancient Mediterranean World sequence which is offered each year and fulfils the civilizational requirement within the undergraduate core curriculum. Assistants are expected to meet with students, evaluate assignments and conduct discussion sections on the lectures. Students with a solid knowledge of Ancient Greek are eligible to apply for the position of Course Assistant for the Athens Program ("Greek Antiquity and its Legacy"). Also part of the civilizational component of the undergraduate core curriculum, this course is an intensive ten-week program that takes place in Athens each spring quarter, with enrolment limited to 20-25 undergraduates. The assistant is expected to serve as both a Teaching Assistant and a Resident Head, as well as conducting classes in Attic Greek for qualified undergraduates. Further teaching opportunities include the Von Holst Prize Lectureships which are awarded to graduates to teach a one-quarter undergraduate course on a theme of their choosing and courses in the Graham School.
