Byzantine: Workshops and Colloquia
The principal venue is the Workshop on Late Antiquity and Byzantium, which Professors Kaegi and Nelson direct, with the assistance of two student coordinators, one of whom usually is an art historian. This workshop attracts art historians, archaeologists, theologians, literary critics, as well as historians, some with international reputations, and other senior scholars and graduate students from several nearby Midwestern universities. It investigates principal trends in historical and art historical analysis. Other relevant workshops include the Medieval Studies Workshop and the Ancient Studies Workshop.
