United States: Workshops and Colloquia
A variety of workshops serve the interests
of U.S. history students, offering opportunities to engage work
in progress of both invited visitors and seminar members, and to
discuss dissertation proposals and chapters, A significant number
of Americanists belong to the Social
History Workshop, where presentations range widely across topical
and chronological areas. The Legal History Workshop, Gender
and Sexualities Workshop, American
Cultures before 1900 Workshop,
Twentieth Century American
Cultures, Reproduction of Race
and Racial Ideologies Workshop,
and International History Workshop are among the others that attract U.S.
history students.U.S. history students usually also organize a special
dissertation workshop for students in the final stages of dissertation
completion.
