Thomas C. Holt is a distinguished historian of the African-American experience and the Atlantic world. He has also made history himself by participating in some of the most seminal moments of the Civil Rights movement. We recently sat down with Prof. Holt to discuss the 1963 protests in Danville, Virginia, and the March on Washington and to learn about how his engagement in the civil-rights movement shaped his life and intellectual interests.
