Stuart McManus studied history and classical philology at Harvard University and intellectual and cultural history at the Warburg Institute, University of London. His dissertation, "The Global Lettered City: Humanism and Empire in Colonial Latin America and the Early Modern World," charts the relationship between the classical tradition and empire in the global monarchies of the Iberian Peninsula and Britain.
