BooksThis list of course descriptions is organized by quarter (Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer), and then chronologically by number. It includesall graduate courses. For information on prerequisites, days, times, and locations of classes being offered in the current quarter, please check the Registrar's Time Schedules.

The Numbering System

300-399 = Open to graduate students, usually cross-listed for undergraduates.
400-499 = Colloquia primarily for graduate students. Undergraduates can take with the consent of instructor.
500-699 = Colloquia for graduate students only.
700-899 = History seminars. At instructors' discretion, seminars may be restricted to History students only.

The History Department offers only a few introductory undergraduate courses and core courses, i.e., European, American, or East Asian Civilizations, in the summer. Graduate courses are not available in the summer session.
