Graduate Students Invited to History Challenge

History graduate students from institutions across Chicago and beyond are invited to take part in the History Challenge (April 13–14, 2017), a competition that asks teams of two to three participants to use a collection of primary sources from the University of Chicago archives to develop a public-history project related to the history of the Hyde Park–Kenwood community in Chicago. Each team member has until April 1, 2017, to register.

NEH Awards $350K Grant for PhD Training

The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded the University of Chicago a $349,919 grant to support the professional advancement of  humanities doctoral students. "The Next Generation Humanities PhD program NEH expects to play a leading role in helping humanities doctoral programs prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century," said NEH Chairman William D. Adams.
