Benny Bar-Lavi earned his AB in philosophy and in history from the School of History Honors Program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he also pursued graduate studies. He has been a fellow of the European Research Council project on "Religious and Cultural Changes in the Western Sephardi Diaspora in the Early Modern Period," directed by Yosef Kaplan.
