"Marking Race, Making History" is a two-day conference on the past, present, and future of African American history. April 29–30, 2016, 10 AM–6 PM, Regenstein Library, room 122, 1100 East 57th Street.
Thomas C. Holt, James Westfall Thompson Distinguished Service Professor of American and African American History at the University of Chicago, is a preeminent historian of the African diaspora in North America. His writing and teaching have transformed the way scholars understand the histories of slavery, freedom, race, and the legacy of the African American experience.
The Department of History, the Division of the Social Sciences, the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture, and the Karla Scherer Center for the Study of American Culture provided generous support for this conference.
