Congratulations to Eduardo Contreras for winning the 2020 David Montgomery Award from the Organization of American Historians! The award, which is co-sponsored by the Labor and Working-Class History Association, honors "the best book on a topic in American labor and working-class history." Contreras won the prize for Latinos and the Liberal City: Politics and Protest in San Francisco (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2019).
Contreras received an MA in 1997 and a PhD in 2008 from the University of Chicago, where his dissertation committee included George Chauncey, Mae Ngai, and Thomas Holt. He is currently an Associate Professor of United States History at Hunter College, City University of New York.
