The Department of History is pleased to announce PhD candidates Carl Kubler and Zoya Sameen have been awarded Mellon/American Council of Learned Societies dissertation completion fellowships for the 2021-2022 academic year. The Mellon/ACLS fellowship supports graduate students in the social sciences and humanities in their final year of dissertation writing.
Carl Kubler—“Barbarians on the Shore: Global Trade, Conflict Resolution, and Everyday Life on the South China Coast, 1780-1860,” directed by Kenneth Pomeranz.
Zoya Sameen—“Prostitution and Everyday Life in Colonial India, 1860-1940,” directed by Dipesh Chakrabarty.
