Venus Bivar has received numerous awards for Organic Resistance: The Struggle over Industrial Farming in Postwar France (UNC Press, 2018). Bivar's work won the 2019 AHA J. Russell Major Prize, which is awarded annually for the best work in English on any aspect of French history, as well as an honorable mention for the Society for French Historical Studies' David H. Pinkney Prize for the best book in French history. It was also shortlisted for the Canadian Historical Association's Wallace K. Ferguson Prize for the best book in a field other than Canadian history.

Bivar, who received her PhD from the University of Chicago in 2010, is an Assistant Professor of History at Washington University in St. Louis.
